9mm SBR questions (rail to barrel length)

I have a question about barrel length compared to rail length. I have a 7" barrel and I had an extra 10" rail laying around so I put it on to see how it would look.
My question is, should I be worried about a safety issue because of the 7" barrel and the 10" rail. This will only be shot suppressed and the end of the suppressor extends outside the rail, but when I hold onto the rail, my hand is past the end of the barrel and my hand is over the rail that has the suppressor beneath it. So if something did happen, say the suppressor explodes for some reason, my hand is past the barrel.

The suppressor gets hot, so does anyone have problems with heat transfer to the rail causing burns?

I think you should just try it and let us know.

Spike's intentionally offers a similar set up in .300blk. It's my opinion that a 5.56 will get too hot, and so would a .300blk unless it's run with subsonics only.

As far as safety, I feel the same awkwardness reaching past the "end" of the barrel but I think logically it's safe.
