Anyone have any comments on using Colt 9mm carbines? Very expensive, of course, but are users generally satisfied with them?
Thanks.

I have one .....The ONLY regret I have in owning a 6450 is I wished I purchased it in 1991 like I did my Colt HBAR for $650 (I got it and a 1000 rounds of Norinco for $750 cash out the door !!).
I did casually look at one back then and unknowingly snubbed it ...... I thought "WHY would anyone want THAT!??!" Absolutely love the 9mm AR's. Huge fun. I also bunny hunt w/ mine and play PCC.

I have one. I've only shot it very little but it's run without issue when I have shot it. I think I have a couple hundred rounds through it tops. About half of that was shot suppressed with a YHM can on the end, the other half was initial sight in and function check.
If my new Anvil/RRA 9mm SBR runs as well I'll be selling off the Colt.
Here it is with the can on it.

Primary reason originally was that I didn't want to mark the lower.
Those are great looking rifles and I do want to buy a Colt 6450. I noticed your upper looks modified. That hudge Brass deflector is gone and I thought it was part of the upper, meaning you cant move it. Pls explain how you removed yours and the way it is attached originaly.

The upper receiver on Colt 6450 9mm doesn't have a deflector made into it like the
A2 and later 5.56mm uppers do. They have a plastic deflector/shield that
attaches to the port door hinge pin. I think this plastic deflector/shield
looks like a cheap after thought. It is easy to remove by removing the "E"
clip on the front of the port door hinge pin and pulling the pin out. Once
you do this you will also need to replace the short port door with a
standard size door. My gun ejects the brass forward and to the right on
about a 45 degree angle so removing the deflector/shield was not a problem
on mine. The deflector/shield is also supposed to block any gas that blows
out of the port during firing. I have never had any problem with this issue
either.

Like Scattergun I also removed the ugly plastic clam shell on my 6450. I have not been hit with anything since the removal. Cases land Way out @ 3 o'clock. I have not even replaced the door yet. I love the old A1 look.
