Huh, for some reason I recalled Cruz winning in TN yet it not being nearly enough overall. Oh well, it's the last primary I voted in.
I know who I was thinking of: Santorum in 2012. He did win TN, but obviously wasn't enough overall either. We got stuck with Romney that year, which will be marked in my personal history as the last year I will ever be shamed into voting for someone.

Voted for Trump five times here in Tennessee. He’s won each time. Voted for Newt Gingrich in the 2012 primary. Lost. IIRC, Santorum was attempting to ride religion to the republican nomination. I guess it was enough that Romney looked presidential to attract enough primary voters. I voted for him in the general. Life is full of less than desirable choices. I’m not surrendering my vote in protest or disgust.

What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine…
Your call on that.
I have come to be open to considering maybe two candidates in the primary: my first choice obviously, and a second choice (even if a distant second like Trump for me this year). I'll not hit the lever for a Haley/Romney/McCain ever again. That is my call.
In 2016 my personal rule was in effect for the first time, and when my primary guy (Cruz) didn't get it I went to my second choice in the general, which was Trump. 2020 didn't matter as he was the incumbent. This year it was DeSantis, but since he's out I'll go with my second choice once again, Lord Cheeto.

"Voted for Trump five times here in Tennessee. He’s won each time."
Trump won the 2020 republican primary and the general in Tennessee. Trump has won in Tennessee every time he's been on the ballot, 3 primaries and 2 generals = 5 times.
Like you say, your choice. That said, democrats understand the importance of winning regardless if their favorite democrat candidate is on the ballot. Republican voters staying home in protest or whatever is exactly what democrats want.
Okay, misunderstood what you meant by "won", you were talking about just in TN, I was talking overall. Yes, he won TN, but he did not win the general in 2020 unfortunately.
I think I am being pretty generous with giving some leeway allowing two candidates instead of just one. And my choices wouldn't be some obscure candidates that didn't have a chance in Hell of winning. DeSantis or Trump seemed the most likely to prevail so I allowed for those two (really liking one of them, and having voted for the other twice already so it was a no-brainer).
I have no problem whatsoever skipping the POTUS lever altogether if a RINO got the nomination. Republican primary voters need to be sent a message about mediocrity and "settling" for a candidate. My one inconsequential vote may not mean much, but I am not alone in those feelings and in close elections every vote will be needed; choose wisely was all I was asking. I said in the Haley thread for primary voters not to give me the choice of that bitch because I wouldn't vote for her. They didn't off course, and that's because I think most on our side of the equation are tired of RINOs, so that's a good thing. Hopefully it's a trend that will continue.
God knows what the future holds, but by all means dine at the RINO table when the GOPe serves one up with the help of spineless milquetoast primary voters. I'll pass. [the previous is why IMHO the choice of Trump's VP this time around will be critical.....one of these lawfare cases against him succeeds and he gets removed his VP will be who we have left]

Seems fitting for a God gave us Trump thread.
Trump demands Biden to issue apology over 'blasphemous' Trans Visibility Day on Easter Sunday: 'Appalling'
After President Biden sparked fury by marking March 31 "Transgender Day of Visibility," which this year is also Easter Sunday, former President Trump called for an immediate apology to millions of Christians and Catholics.
[[ "Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans: You are loved. You are heard. You are understood. You belong. You are America, and my entire Administration and I have your back," it continued. "NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility."]]
Trump's national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, called it "appalling and insulting" that Biden "formally proclaimed Easter Sunday as ‘Trans Day of Visibility.’"
Leavitt said the president's announcement is an example of the Biden administration's "years-long assault on the Christian faith."
"We call on Joe Biden's failing campaign and the White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only — the resurrection of Jesus Christ," she said.
And.... "The Biden White House has betrayed the central tenet of Easter — which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ," House Speaker Mike Johnson posted on X. Banning sacred truth and tradition—while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as 'Transgender Day'—is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note."

I don't see Trump as a role model or angel, but I can't see ANY way that someone can support a man who desecrates Easter Sunday and consider themselves a follower of the Lord.
Not that I'm even particularly a "good Christian," God knows I stumble and drift along The Path more than I'd like to admit, but...
