I would think that depends on the guards rep and the attackers rep. If the guard was popular probably not. Likewise if the inmate attacker was a known loon or a$$hole.

I once had a vehicular pursuit in which the driver stopped after a couple miles and took off on foot. The passenger, who was under active supervision (parole) stayed in the car and cooperated, to include telling me the suspect's name, etc. After the K-9 arrived, the suspect was located. (It had just started snowing at the beginning of the pursuit, so it wasn't too hard to trail him.)

The passenger just wasn't looking for any more trouble and everything he told me was the truth. The way I look at it, if I can send a letter to Corrections when one of their clients screws up, I can do the same when one of them does the right thing too (which I did).

It was a jail, not a prison, so you get a mix of everyone in there. Could be anything from being somewhat decent guys that were not going to let that go down, to not wanting any part of the shitstorm that would follow an officer getting beat up.

pretty interesting. you dont hear about this situation very often. as someone else said, it may depend on the status of the guard/attacker but it will be interesting to see if there are consequences for the 4 inmates.

The men are in jail for charges including home invasion and attempted murder.

All of them? These are probably the most heinous charges, which none have been proven guilty of. Although it does bring some sensationalism to the piece it's useless information, list all their charges or none at all. Many men make mistakes, it doesn't make them immoral or not have a conscience.

I am always just as willing to tell someone (or write a supervisor on someone's behalf) that I appreciate their good "job" as I am to do the opposite.

Respect is a two way street and seems to have worked out well for the corrections officer. That's my guess. Some who commits murder doesn't necessarily enjoy watching anyone and everyone die.

Hopefully this will be a turning point in these guy's lives.

I recently became aquainted with a guy that did some bad stuff earlier in his life. I'm not sure what he did but he spent time in prison. He straightened out his life and stayed clean to the point that he was able to get a CC permit.

Doing a "solid" for the guards like this would have a positive impact on all of the inmates. For that reason there would be no retribution for those who stood up and did the right thing.

Convicts are not all bad and some even have a moral center. This lady had her purse stolen, while walking down the street in front a Project 90 house (Convict/Narcotic Rehab Center). These two attendees chased the little turd for about four to five blocks on a foot pursuit that many cops would have given up on. The two caught the little twerp and held him for the police. There is a lot of gray in the world, and those two found a cause they believed in. Sometimes Rehab works...

Some convicts have better morals than some CO's I know.
