Not unexpected. Everything new gets a recall within the first year.

With BM, I'm surprised it hadn't taken place sooner.

Bushmaster ACR Recall

I just got this on Facebook:

If you have a Bushmaster ACR, stop using it immediately and call Bushmaster at 800/883-6229—Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time. Have your serial number ready.

The ACR is being recalled because it could potentially fire more than one round with a single pull of the trigger, which is obviously dangerous since it’s not supposed to do that. This only affects the ACR, not other Bushmaster rifles.

You must contact them before shipping the gun. Bushmaster will provide instructions for return of the rifle and will pay for the shipping. They’ll fix the problem, and they promise to have the rifle back to you as soon as possible.

So a burst/auto fire ACR? I thought that's what every one wanted

were there any recalls on the SCAR 16s in it's first year?

The mods merged two similar threads into one - hence the fact that the link now points back to the same thread.

Heard two reports of this prior to the recall. One individual seems to have shot his toe due to a slamfire. Seems like the ACR is a good rifle....but Bushmaster really botched this one (slam fires AND $500+ over what was initially promised...)

This does not surprise me. Bushmaster has a certain way with products.

Makes you wonder what the hell else is wrong with the rifle that might pop up over the next few years.

That sounds like some fanboy apologist talk there.
That shit's unacceptable for what is supposed to be a tier 1 weapon.

Pretty sure it was dropped from the 'tier 1' grouping the second it changed hands from Magpul to Remington/Bushmaster. It's no longer a tier 1 weapon and as such I don't expect it to perform like one.

Did you seriously just say tier 1?

What's next? Talk of D-boys and black helmets?

What is sad to me is that the ACR prices have really fallen. Look at the front page of Scottsdale Gun Club - Enhanced ACR for $2238...Had BM announced prices like that at SHOT, I bet the ACR would have received a much warmer reception.

Instead it was outrageous prices, the wrong barrel twist (sure 1/7" barrels were coming - couldn't find that on a single piece of promotional material from BM) and now a safety recall.

Seems like a real opportunity missed.
