Why does my 14.5 middy play so rough?

Why does my 14.5 inch middy shoot so damn rough compared to my other ar? My 14.5 is a bcm bfh with a pinned battlecomp 1.5, it has moe handguards bcm bcg and i am running a spikes t2 buffer. It is LOUD, like really loud, teeth jarring loud and it seems to recoil quite abit more than my other rifle and i am just wondering what is the cuase. My other rifle is a 16 inch carbine length gas with a 13 inch troy trx extreme rail, a semi auto bcg and a standard weight buffer and it has a smith vortex flash hider. I can shoot this rifle without ear protection all day and it shoots so much smoother than my 14.5. I am wondering if the 16 inch barrel makes that much difference in recoil or if the free float rail on the 16 inch rifle makes it feel smoother and i am wondering if the loudness of the rifle is due to the battlecomp or if it is due to the length of the barrel. I kind of expected the midlength to shoot better. i am also wondering if the loud volume from the 14.5 is making me feel more recoil than what is really there. Anyone know what gives?
