If you bought it from Brownell's, why wouldn't you reach out to them first and have them make it right IMMEDIATELY when you took delivery and saw the damage? If I bought a Sony TV from Best Buy and opened the box and found the screen was cracked, I would take it back to Best Buy, not send it to Sony... And if you bought it on a credit card like American Express, I would dispute the charge also. Inform the CC company of the situation and let them deal with it.

I thought it was a manufacturing defect, typically I would expect the manufacturer to correct that under warranty. Turns out it was not a defect on their end.

I am accustomed to firearms sales being absolutely final. Most shops won’t take them back. Brownells will within 60 days.

At this point KAC has been good to deal with after some further conversations, and Brownells have been good to deal with so far on the possibility of returning the rifle for exchange if needed.

A lot of this issue stems from me being in a hurry and not exercising due diligence in inspection of the rifle at the FFL I had Brownell’s ship it to. I picked it up on 04/27/18 and didn’t even touch it again until 04/30/18 due to work, and then traveling for vacation. Got to my vacation destination visiting family and headed to a local range with my brother and discovered the M-Lok slot I wanted to use was buggered up. I contacted KAC that same day under the assumption that it was a manufacturer defect.

So I’m taking away this lesson:

1.) When you order a firearm and have it shipped to an FFL, even though you’ve paid for it already, do a very thorough inspection before you fill out the 4473.

2.) Use an FFL you know you can trust if possible. My normal guy has cancer, and has liquidated most of his business and isn’t doing transfers right now either. So I picked another FFL that is only 24 miles away with a store front and normal posted hours. None of that means they aren’t goobers as it turns out.

Yes, was lucky enough to grab one not too long after I bought the rifle.

I realize obsessive cleaning is overrated but do you find the hard chrome easier to clean up when the time comes to clean the rifle?

If you're cutting sand you're doing it right.
