I have a bid in on a DD5V1 on Gunbroker. Assuming I get it I'll wait till after SHOT before deciding on a scope. I'm really torn between a 1-6/1-8 BDC or going with a 2/2.5-10 with a mil reticle. Plan to use it for range use, maybe a precision rifle class and hunting.

Looking hard at the Swarovski Z8i and the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42. Decisions, decisions...
I honestly wonder if they could cut the weight further. 8.6 pounds is really getting up there.

Relative to small frame AR10s like the SF-MATEN or the XLR-18? It's in the early days right now but I don't think we're far off from ~7 pound AR10s comparable to the DD5V1.

Is anyone having any issues with ammo feeding on these? How much do the Pmags go for?

I have not heard of any issue with feeding. The pmags are about $20

I know nutnfancy isn't that popular, but he was having trouble with steel stuff. I doubt I'd use steel stuff, but I'd hate to limit myself in an ammo shortage. I am deciding between one of these and an SR762

I was able to sneak out of the house for a few hours yesterday to burn some powder. I took 40 rounds of some cheap PMC FMJ and 40+ rounds of various reloads I had from a few years ago. First, let me say the Burris XTR was a pleasure to sight in and those of you on here that spoke highly of that scope were right on (as usual). I mounted the scope last week and moved it a tad forward yesterday morning after playing with the eye relief some more. On to the range...

The Burris XTR was on target after three shots @ 25 yds and then I began to tinker with the Burris fastfire I mounted at the 1 oclock position on the rails. The jury is still out with the fastfire but after 15 rounds it was hitting a softball size area at 25 yds and I was tired of screwing with it. Moving on to 100, I did all of my shooting from the prone so I was able to really get my body behind the gun and see what it would do. I had a mixture of 165 grain SSTs and 168 grain Hornady HPBT to play with and it shot both sub MOA with no issues. I am definitely a little rusty but when I really did my job the gun shot like an absolute dream. 155 grain Amax is supposed to be what it liked the most during its testing and I found a few boxes at Academy yesterday so I will get them loaded up and see.

I also broke in a DDV11 that I bought prior to leaving and hadn't had a chance to shoot. I just put an aimpoint on it but damn that is a sweet shooter too. I cannot wait to really shoot it for fun.

Biggest pros for me on the DD5
-Trigger, that Geissele two stage is a real pleasure to play with.
-The DD standard stock really gives me a good cheek weld. I was planning on upgrading and adding more weight to the gun but it isn't needed.

    Biggest con
-the charging handle. A lot of people have complained about it but the ball detent didn't bother me as much as I feel the charging handing is really grabbing to much friction when worked. It might just be because it is new but it is something I am keeping my eye on.
