Blonde Furniture Sets

I like the looks of this ak

not the price but the looks. If I got one of the Arsenal Saiga rifles where could I get a furniture set like this? Remember this one is milled so I would need stamped.

Check out ironwood designs, they make AK furniture in a few different hardwoods. I have a beech set for my Hungarian and it turned out really nice. They have birch, maple, and laminate that are pretty blond and they count toward your US parts as a bonus. The proprietor is a great guy to boot.

Look for Bulgarian on Hungarian blond sets.

Another Ironwood designs fan. He will "custom" make your wood set to fit your receiver and since they are US made, you don't have to worry about any 922r compliance silliness.

You have to do a little work finishing it, but the results are well worth the effort.

This is his Beechwood set on my Bulgarian SA-93

If you have some woodworking skill and the right tools, make your own. I was looking at Ironwood's stuff, and it seems very nice. But my slant-cut MAK-90 receiver would have required extensive fitting on an Ironwood stock. Rather than worry about screwing up something I bought, I took a block of curly maple and fit it to my gun. Then I shaped the stock since that part is easy (relatively speaking). The fore grip is more challenging, but with some careful planning and patience, is doable. I laminated mine from three pieces in a "U" shape to save the time and trouble of milling out the barrel channel. Some pics are on pp. 67 of the AK photo thread.

I'm pretty sure Ironwood makes a stock set for slant cut receivers.

Didnt someone used to or still make a piece of filler metal for those slant cut reciever Mak 90's? IMO that would look better.

On Ironwood's site IIRC thet stated that they had done less than a dozen slant cut sets for MAK-90's over the years. I determined from my research that the receivers were cut by hand, so no two will be alike. This is where fitting would come into play. In my experience, it is easier co clamp patterns to a square block than to something with changing contours. I am a professional woodworker, and realize this project is probably too challenging for a novice. But for me, once I had the idea I had no choice but to try.

I've been lusting after a blonde (stock set ) for years, but have been unable to locate.

I have a Norinco 84S, which has 1.5mm reciever walls. Can Ironwood do a narrower tang?

(Matt) Ironwood can do pretty much anything. He does all his stuff in house. Call him and talk to him about what you need.
