Dumb question - SR-15 people

Ordered 1000 m855 62gr green tips from widners, didn't realize it was 223. I have only ever shot 5.56 out of my SR-15 and never had a problem. Should i cancel my order?

.223 is ok in 5.56 chambers. It's 5.56 in a .223 chamber that may cause issues. M855 spec ammo should be 5.56. Are you sure they haven't advertised it as .223 incorrectly?

You will be fine. It is only the older Sr-15 that sometimes where picky with ammo. Since then KAC has enlarged the gas ports to allow people to use 223 ammo.

Are you sure it's not just the way they label it? I've never seen m855 loaded to 223 pressure. My guess is it's just how they label it. I'd give them a call, but I'm fairly certain it's NATO pressure.

As for the SR15, I had two. One with the smaller port and the newer one with the larger port. I never had a problem in either with quality ammo, even quality 223.

not sure, when i called to cancel the order i got a woman on the phone (lol - she probably knows more than me) but i decided not to ask her if there was a typo. Maybe i shouldn't of canceled.. oh well ill wait on the IMIM855C 1200 Round Case IMI 62gr M855 Ammunition 1200round case's..
Now they have that 223 as out of stock, i may have not gotten it anyways.

I'm pretty sure it was NATO pressure and just the way they labeled it. I just replied to your thread on Lightfighter as well. No big deal, it's not like you passed up some great deal that would have saved you $100.

I'd be suprised if Lake City manufactured anything .223 let alone label it M855. Looking at Wideners site, they seem to couch all 5.56 stuff under the .223 tag.

yeah, it just threw me off. I pretty much only shoot m855 but it's always labeled 5.56. When i saw 223 i just didn't feel like dealing with any issues. I probably shouldn't of canceled my order, but ill just wait on the stuff i always shoot. I try to stick with what I know works..

What you would expect. I made a joking comment about how if the guys weren't sleeping on post they would of responded before I canceled my order. Some mod Took it as I was being serious and had to show his authority. So I told them tO ban me because obviously their sarcasm meters were buried in their asses. typical internets.

That ammo is loaded to NATO specs. It just how it was labeled this is fairly common for most of .223/5.56 items we see on the market.

I just about ordered this stuff yesterday. I see it’s out of stock now. Grrrrr. I don’t remember seeing .223 in the description, but I see it now. My guess is that it is a typo, and should say 5.56. That’s a decent price in the current market place, but shipping for me is a lot from Wideners since I’m on the other side of the country from them. Their prices are usually as good as it gets, and ordering from them is smooth and seamless.

I just emailed Wideners about that out of curiosity.

I shoot both .223 and 5.56 out of my Mini-14 and my Colt 6920. For normal range work, I shoot for the cheapest. I think it’s Cabelas where I recently saw 5.56 $2/box of 20 cheaper than .223.

I just went with a case of Federal Lake City 5.56mm M855 62 Grain Green Tip Penetrator Bulk Ammunition-Federal Lake City 5.56mm M855 62 Grain Penetrator 1000 Rounds Bulk. Total including shipping was $419 targetsportsusa.com
I will definitely try a case of that ".223" when it comes back in stock though. It's probably the same shit anyways lol
