Question on Lancer "Advanced Warfighter Mags"

I understand that Lancer Systems improved these mags from the initial production runs, with some form of upgrade to the feed lips to promote more reliable feeding. Is there some way to tell the earlier mags from the current production items?

    Lancer L5

    Lancer L5 AWM

The most obvious change is the amount of metal on the feed lips. They also changed the floorplate.

Picture says everything. They are completely different. The AWM's are some of the best magazines available for any dollar amount. I love mine.

Just another option out there. Competition drives the industry forward IMO. I personally like mine, and my pmags. I suppose the steel lips would be less apt to warp, but can't prove anything.

My AWM mags have been great. The steel feed lips added to a polymer magazine provides greater strength feed lips than an aluminum or all polymer mags and are lighter than an all steel mag.

Heat treated steel is stronger than plastic.

I really like the new PMAG gen3. I own and have used 3 so far. Many more being shipped to me presently.

Don't open that can of worms.

Scott from Lancer Systems PM'd me with the info I was wondering about. Many thanks for his consideration.

The feed lips don't break when they hit the deck as often. I love my PMags but use my Lancers when we shoot on the county range which is all black topped. Its mauled a few of my PMags over the years.

I just picked up 6 Lancers.
