Only had a couple afternoons to do load testing, but so far I have a subsonic 210gr load that cycles the action and will lock the bolt back. My 240gr load will cycle, but not lock the bolt back. The 125's shoot at 2050 fps with 17.0gr H110. I zeroed the subs @ 50 yards with a TA11, and the 125's impact 8 MOA higher.

I'm not familiar with the 300 Fireball. What is the parent case? Easy to reload?

one more Q...
how is that thing as a deer round? seems like you could load it to 7.62x39 ballistics... maybe hotter?
should i just start drinking the 6.8 SPC koolaid?

You can make it with .223 cases as well and load it to 7.62 Soviet ballistics but you need an adjustable gas block. Or so I hear.

Seriously, don't overthink this. .223 can work as a good deer round with the right bullet selection. So can 6.8SPC, 6.5 Grendel, 300 Whisper/Fireball, 7.62x39, etc.
I built a Fireball because I wanted something short and suppressed. My 6.8SPC is 18" and is very long with a can on. A

cool..
i read up a little more on 300 whisper. i guess it was originally designed as a hard hitting high accuracy subsonic round. neat.
what bullet weights have you been using?
i've got a pretty hard hitting 75 grain load for .223 that should suffice for hunting.

See post #4.
WRT .223, the bullet composition and design is more important than the velocity or bullet weight. My choice for hunting with 223 would be th 70gr Barnes TSX.

I killed the biggest bear and blacktail of my life with a 300 Fireball using 165 gr Ballistic Tips out of a 10" barreled CZ527 with an AAC Cyclone.
The dear was at 20 yds, through both shoulders, the bear was at about 200 yds, through the lungs and spine. Both 1 shot kills.

Do you need to modify your mags at all to fit 220-240 loads in them?
Also, did you get that barrel recently?
