M&P Tritium Sights
Wow! Did I ever have to do some digging to find the thread that discusses tritium sights for the M&P!
anyway, I have come to the conclusion that I like the Bowie Tactical/Ameriglo sights... but wanted to know what people think about using the yellow rear sights with green front as opposed to greens front and rear?
white outline, or no?

I like white outlined green tritium, but front only.
Rear is plain black

The color of the rear dots isn't really that big a deal, but I certainly can't fault folks who want it to be a bit dimmer and provide contrast. I've been using an all-green 3-dot system for years, but when Warren finally has their 2-dot (green front, yellow rear) set for the M&P I'll switch to that in a heartbeat.
A lot of people run with just a front night sight, and it's a doable proposition under about 95% of the lighting conditions you're likely to see. However, there are some things you won't likely see on a range in terms of multiple layers of light & shadow between you and the target, etc., which can make having a positive alignment point on the rear a benefit. The trade-off, of course, is that it adds what some people feel is a distraction on the rear sight during normal daylight shooting.

I thought about this but I decided I like the indication of the rear sight as I do with my other night sighted guns.
One potential problem that I can see with having yellow rears and green front is if the yellow rears appear brighter than the green front. that would be defeating the purpose....

The yellow rear shouldn't appear brighter ... your eye picks up green more easily than yellow, especially in the dark. Furthermore, at least on the Warrens, the rear dot is smaller. I never realized this (never had Warren rear night sights before), but gotM4 pointed it out to me just the other day.
What I do on "normal" night sights is just take a dry-erase black marker and swipe across the rear dots. It dims them but leaves them visible enough to aim with in dim and dark conditions.

Anyone make an orange tritium front site? I think that would be a lot better for faster sight alignment with one orange or yellow front sight and two green rear tritium dots or one front orange and one green rear to easily stack them.

Here's my $.02:
If my pistol is equipped with a CT laser, I prefer a trit sight on the front only. If I have no option for a visible laser, I would prefer a straight 8 setup. I would also use a sharpie to dim the rear dot.

trijicon makes orange but only for the rear sight, of their 3 choices of sights green is always the front and the rear can be orange green or yellow

Trijicon recommended the yellow rear and green front to me...said the orange was only covered for 5 years IIRC.

Yes, orange is dim and you wouldn't want it on the front. There's some company that IIRC makes blue even.
I had Ameriglos on my Glock a long time ago. Green front yellow rear.
Green Trijicon front now and Warren plain tactical plain rear.

you say the eye perceives green as brighter than yellow? interesting. that is what I hoped would be the case.
or maybe the Bowie Tac front is larger than the rear? one way or the other, I hope the front seems more prominent.
and if not, I'll give your dry-erase marker idea a try. at the very least, I'll have the Warren Tac rear to fall back on, right?
thanks for your reply...

Just got a reply back from Warren tactical about the single tritium rear sight:
"Mate, we're making them now. It should be 3/4 weeks before we have them. PLS check back them and keep your fingers crossed."
