Larue Stealth Upper or VLTOR VIS w/
Noveske barrel?
I'm torn b/c I love the fact of having the simple. rugged design of a one piece upper and the insane durability of Noveske's barrels.
However, for the price of the upper and the barrel I can buy a complete Larue upper and get that sick Surefire Delta folding blade too....
As well ALL know, Mark LaRue is no slouch. He is one of the best in the biz and I LOVE his kit.
Lemme have it.

My bad, nevermind, I was thinking the combo was 1145.00, it's 1445.00....still, that's a COMPLETE upper with the blade as opposed to a barrel (w/ gas tube and bolt) and the upper.
still, please leave comments and opinions.
Thanks to all

i like the looks of the Vltor and ofcourse it's improved function from being a monolithic rail. a Noveske on a Vltor mono would be one of the best DI setups available imo

noveske's uppers are complete as well, including the carrier. that being said, i have a VIS, and a LaRue 16" stealth as well. i'd hate to have to choose between the two. you'll probably hear it from others - you can't go wrong with either and it boils down to personal preferences rather than technical features.

If I had to pick one off of a table I'd close my eyes and take a blind stab at it.
Either one is WAY above average.
If you desire something to handle an extreme round count, get Noveske's N4. If you desire SS for precision, either manufacturer would be great.

The Noveske barrels have no equals and the VIS is simply one of the best systems on the market. To me, it is a no brainer.

Grant, Guru, MMoron....I value you guys' opinions and experiences as you have all been a constant since I joined this forum.....RallyNoob, thanks for the input. I'm buying a VIS next week and a Novekse barrel shortly thereafter. Grant, you put together some gorgeous machines.
You're in/near Northern VA if I'm not mistaken?
I'd like to bring my parts to you to assemble.

is there a reason you're buying a barrel and VIS separately instead of a fully assembled/complete upper from noveske?

i bought a 18" Noveske SPR Vltor VIS upper and I could not be happier with it. i mated it up with a POF billet lower and its a good match.
even if you build the upper yourself, you won't really save much money. its not worth the headache. i doubt you or i would be able to assemble a higher quality product than what is available directly from Noveske. and it seems like you don't even want to go the DIY route and are looking for a smith to put it together for you.
with that plan, you're going to wind up spending more money in the long run and who knows if the results will be as good as an upper shipped from Noveske. there's really no way it could be better, so why take the chance on it being not as good?
just buy the complete upper, you wont be disappointed.

Very good points from all.....well, i'm doing this as the $$$ presents itself. i'm HORRIBLE with budgeting and am terribly afraid that the HK45 at my local dealer will "steal" my VIS/Noveske $$$ the next time I happen to be in there. I know this makes little sense; however, I COULD always send the pieces parts to Noveske once I have them all, correct?

We are in Ohio and have all the parts you are interested in stock (so no need to send us anything). You also do not pay VA sales tax.

Billybronco,
I need to say the Noveske and Vltor VIS combo makes for a great gun. I have a 16" recon barrell with a 10" VIS and Surefire MB (ban state , no flash hider allowed). It is very accurate and soft shooting.
You cannot go wrong using Grant for your purchase. He built mine for me and was easy to work with. His reputation here is first class.
Happy shooting !

i will when its done. so far i've just dry fitted the upper and stripped lower and test fired the upper using a different lower and a TR21 for a function test.
the fit and color match between the Vltor and POF was very nice tho, even tho i'm not one who usually cares about such things
waiting for the Accupoint TR20-2 to come out next month before i assemble the lower.
i also need to decide what stock to use....still up in the air over MagPul PRS, Mil-Spec A2 or ACE ARFX. any suggestions?
