DVD's
We decided to film some DVD's, and in doing so we wanted to do something slightly different. We of course wanted to make the DVD's informative and enjoyable, so we decided to film them like a documentary, where you the viewer follow the students though a course, while also picking up some techniques and whys along the way. Of course this is un-charted territory for us so we hope we got it right.
There will also be what I call a no talking drill section where you don't have to watch the video again, fast forwarding it to see a particular drill. You'll just go to the drill section and click on what drill you want ie. (Tac-reload, Transitions, Positions etc.) and there will be no talking from us during the demos. Which is good because were running our sucks enough. However the real story is watching the students grow.

Also we understand all the controversies and of course people have seen the threads about why certain instructors don't do videos etc.. etc... however like Chris said this is not a "look at me or replacement video" this is more the documentary.
This is in no way a alternative for actual training, We all know that just because you watch a video or read a book doesn't mean your now an expert. Nothing is more down and dirty, physical, demanding, realistic and in your face than actual training. This is meant to be a great reference tool and to get more people educated and involved in our community.

Sounds good! I'm into this kind of stuff.
I even bought the USMC marksmanship video set years back. Sometimes you can pick up a thing or two when you're watching stuff like this in the comfort of your home. Sometimes in class your focus is on digging sand out of your pants and wondering how many loaded mags you have on you.

Great... I can see it now. It's Friday night after a long week of the rat race. The wife and I have finally gotten the kids in bed, we get a bowl of popcorn, some drinks and relax on the couch. The wife is expecting some romantic chick flick. I click the remote and across the 50" Plasma TV is is Travis and Chris running drills; "Contact Front!!!"
BANG BANG BANG!!
"NOT THIS SHIT AGAIN!!!" she yells...
I end up sleeping on the couch with the dog yet another night.
Thanks fellas.

I didn't get to watch the video because I'm at work and don't want to draw too much bandwidth, but this sounds like a great way to supplement a class you've already taken. I took a pistol class a couple months ago and am sure I've forgotten some of the details, something like this would be a good way to focus on the drills you're doing and make sure you're continuing to practice correctly.
I particularly like the idea of a "drills" menu to jump directly to what you're wanting to see. Simple but brilliant.
So how do I get you guys out to OK?

Arc, we were thinking of also including a home decorating DVD for the Lady's. The problem is it would be home decorating with an orange county coppers approach. Hell Travis and I can't figure out what pants we should wear so maybe that isn't a good idea, Pants, drapes, crown molding, it could all go bad. We'll think of something I'm sure.
have a good weekend,

Mike, if possible could I please get the contact info. Next week T and I are working with USMC teaching a 4day 4,000 rd 1911 operators course so as soon as I get back I would like to start a dialog to get the ball rolling.
Thanks for the info,
C

Nice video. I will definitely get that DVD and attend one of your courses in the near future. Looks like a lot of fun.
Quick question, if we attend one of your courses do we have to bring our own ammo on the plane with us or can we buy them at the location?

Rich, it will depend where the course is. Some courses people are driving to the class so it's already with you. If It's a course where you're meeting us at, sometimes the range will cut you a deal and have it ready for you when you arrive like for example ATS. It's all a case by case basis. Pick where you want to train and then I can help you with the ammo concern, but I don't think you are allowed more then 10 lbs on a commercial air.
