Mystery Ranch

There are a lot of great backpack products out there in the market, and I was wondering if anyone here have any personal experience with <Mystery Ranch>?

IIRC M.R. was started by the guy that started Dana Designs. You can't go wrong with M.R. IMHO.

I have a Dana pack and it is sweet.
These packs look freaking awesome and I love the 3 Day, but it seems a little big, but very nice indeed.

Mystery Ranch packs are all top shelf. It will serve you well.

I have several in different flavors and could not be more pleased.

Their end user list is quite impressive as well.

I've got a MR 3 Day Assault Pack on order to replace my Kifaru Pointman, looking forward to getting it in a few weeks when I deploy back to the states, I'll post my impressions of it. I'll probably post the Kifaru on the sales forum as well.

Anyone care to comment on how their mystery ranch packs are working for them - especially with the BVS pads. I'm looking at getting a crew cab but also still thinking about a Kifaru.

Please for the love of everything hole post a review on that pack. It's like everyone who buys one has a memory dump... they claim they love the pack and vanish...

Conspiracy?

You're correct, Dana Gleason started Mystery Ranch after he sold Dana Designs to K2. Some of his MR packs are refinements of DD favorites (the MR Snapdragon is an update of my beloved Bomb pack).

Camelbak's site says that he helped design their big packs.

I wouldn't hesitate to do an extended hump in anything he designed. I've never used another brand with a better suspension system or features.

For those curious about some more pictures of the Mystery Ranch 3-Day Assault Pack... I've turned to the Japs. Click me. Good series of photos. My 3-4 day pack needs are now competing between the Osprey Kestrel 48 and the Mystery Ranch 3-Day Assault Pack, though the price difference is significant...

Long overdue but I ended up trading my Mystery Ranch for a Kifaru X-Ray. The MR was a good pack overall but a little small for my needs and wasn't built nearly as well as the Kifaru.

Mystery Ranch is the way to go

I've got a Mystery Ranch 3 day assault pack and I love it. The tri zip is the way to go -you can get to the gear at the bottom of the back without disturbing your load as easily as you can get to the gear at the top. I find this EXTREMELY nice after twelve years as an infantryman because I don't have to try to pack my gear in the order in which I think I might need it. With the tri-zip I don't have to pull gear from the pack in order to get to the bottom. I love it!

I'm also not a fan of packs entirely covered in PALS. Kifaru overdoes theirs. They put webbing in places you would never attach anything, which makes me think they're doing it to try to make their packs tacticool not practicool.

They are the easiest pack to adjust and fit that I have ever used.

We're issued Kelty but I am going to show the SuppO this 3 Day Assault Pack. It is much better than the backpack derived pack we have now.
I'm in lust.

Mystery Ranch is very GOOD TO GO.

I have used the Mystery Ranch Behemoth and Snapdragon (civillian model of the 3 day assualt pack). The Snapdragon used to be my go to pack until I opted to use an Arcteryx pack. It still ranks uptop for my favorite packs of all time.

There are 2 great Master pack makers.

1-Patrick Smith,aka Mountainsmith,who now has Kifaru.

2-Dana Gleason,Dana Designs,and now Mystery Ranch.

I just gave a friend my Dana Terraplane,20+ year old pack. Been to Alaska,up and down the Pacific Crest Trail, all over the Adirondacks, ect ect ect

You honestly can't go wrong with either.
Kifaru has more tactcool.
But MR packs IMHO can't be beat.
