Looks good. I need a LMT upper to finish mine up.

I would. If nothing else it will give you a pushbutton hole at the rear so you can move that sling attachment point back.

If you're not runing a light mounted on the left, does it really matter?

I don't like the sling that far forward as I think it gets in the way. I have my AK set up that way due to a lack of attachment point at the rear and I am working on figuring out a way to get it further back after running it this way for 6 months.
It also uses up more of the length of the sling, which can be good for those that think the slings are too long to begin with.
Having a place to attach a two-point sling other than on the barrel and further to the rear is one of the chief reasons, after attaching a light, to have a rail IMHO. Of course, he could just use an MI pushbutton attached to the rail he has now, but then he'd still be attached to the barrel.
and, he really should have a light on the rifle somewhere anyway. Left side would be my preference, but YMMV.

I will be building a LMT myself.. Im gonna get the lower pretty soon in case of this ban and then work on the upper.. DD lite rail and another TA31F on it.. MI SPLP, ERGO grip.. comes with the sopmod stock so that is cool. I just really wish they made a Middy upper.. I have pretty much been waiting for that.

Nice LMT, the DD Omega is nice, but I wouldn't run out and replace the KAC unless there was a larger need, or had extra money. You can pick up one of the newer thin DD or MI QD sling mounts if you want to move the sling back a little closer to the handguards.

My feelings exactly, I use a light only when I need it mounted at this point and it goes on the right side. I could and have thought of getting an offset mount but the way I grip the v. grip/forarm I really would rather have it on the left side. Having the disconnect for the sling near the rear is a big reason for the Omega being considered, along with permanently attaching my light on the left under the natual position of my thumb.
I wanted to post this pic without it being an attachment. I think my wife knows how, will get her to help againg tonight. Please be patient with me

Not that it matters which make of gun but I have a RAS (not my first) on one LMT and the Omega (my first) on another. I haven't spent a lot of time with the Omega yet. I like it, but I still prefer the RAS. Im not a big proponent of free floats though, and I will admit to being a little bit of a KAC rail fan.
All in all, they are both just rails and both work fine. Im certainly no surgeon with a rifle and I can shoot just as well with any rail that will hold steady.

My feeling exactly
Nice rifle by the way!
Thanks for the kind responses

For now I use a First Samco QD mount and only snap it on when investigating the 'bump' in the night. If I get the Omega I will upgrade the mount and leave it on the rifle and perhaps remove it when I shoot on the range (daylight of course)
