Anvil Arms
Please forgive the noobishness of my dang self but I'm questioning something that Anvil Arms claims about their receivers.
On their site they say: "Our lower receivers are 100% “Mil-Spec” EXCEPT that the actual “Mil-Spec” includes the ability to fire fully automatically. Our upper and lower receivers meet every other dimension and tolerance in the specification except for that one area, where by federal law, they are not allowed to. However, our lower receivers are fully compatible and completely ready for a registered drop in auto sear! "
uh, what does this mean? the wording seems contradictory. if some overzealous local inspected my gun, even though it doesn't have an Auto sear installed, can it still possibly be construed that I have run afoul of some law? I'd prefer to avoid that...

No, you don't have to worry about any legal problems in respect to that with an Anvil Arms lower. I can't remember now but I think some receivers are specially machined as to prevent you from using a RDIAS and this is why AA made this note.

Yes. An auto sear and a Drop in auto sear are two different things. RDIAS capable is not the same as being drilled for a real auto sear.
What anvil is saying is that you can use your Registered auto sear in their lowers. The lower becomes the host.

Just a side note. I have an Anvil Arms Upper and Lower Receiver and LPK. The finish match is nearly perfect. The fit between the two is really nice. Not too tight, not too loose. They are made my LARS. They are very nice in my opinion. My ACE M4-7 Commercial buffer tube attaches to the lower very nicely. Also have a Magpul MIAD Grip and Trigger Guard that installed perfectly without issues. And I use Cammenga EasyMags that insert and drop free with no problems. KNS .154" Non-Rotating Pins installed without issue.
I was just in a local shop where the owner commented (unprompted) on how nice my Anvil Arms upper and lower fit together and how smoothly the takedown slid in and out. He also commented on the selector, saying that it was very nice and firm without the slop he's seen on other selectors.

Jon does stellar work. My Anvil Arms lower is just perfect. The Sully stock locked up nicely, the LPK's appear to be really nice and it all just looks great. I function tested with a friends Bushy upper and the trigger is sweet as well. I haven't posted pictures yet, as I am still waiting for my upper receiver build to arrive and will do a complete photo set and range report....

thanks guys. I may get one of these as "another" build.
it always helps to have an uneven number of uppers and lowers, that way you have justification for another build, right?
well, that's what I tell my wife anyway...

and he is a heck of a nice guy to boot. If I had one complaint about him it would be his ability to not to disclose technical information about the components he uses in his uppers (I.e. who makes what). If I'm going to buy a rifle I'd like to to know as much as I can. When he refuses to state where he gets his BGCs and the make up of his barrels, its frustrating. But I agree, he is one heck of a nice guy and does offer a lifetime warranty on his products.

He's the same way with his lowers. I think he does that so if he changes a supplier he doesn't have to correct his info all the time. Another place I know was selling lowers that were being touted as made by company A and were really made by company B. Things like this should be avoided IMO.

I agree with you that Jon's a great guy and I've enjoyed doing business with him. In all fairness, do you know what company makes all of the parts in your car? Would this lack of disclosure stop you from buying said vehicle?
