Any thoughts/opinions on Gerber's LMF II?

Just pick up one at this past weekend's gun show. I have a couple of fighting knives but did not have any type of survival knives. Any opinions on these?

I liked it enough to replace my K-Bar with it.

This sounds like high praise indeed. My impression of the LMF is that it is an extremely ruggedly built, survival oriented knife. I'm glad I finally paid the price and picked one up.

I have one, it's been very durable. I also like the type of steel they use in this knife, it's easy to sharpen.

BTW, I looked up the steel type, it is "12C27 Stainless Steel." Also helpful to know, this knife is made in the US.

LMF II

I've had mine for about a year - maybe a bit less. Basically it is hell-bent-for-leather tough. While some reviews stated the handle overlay did not hold up well - mine is doing fine. It holds an edge well, and sharpens easily, too.

If I had to make one comment on the down side - it was also hell-bent-for-leather hard to get in and especially out of the sheath!!!!! Repeated use didn't help. So - I carved away a bit of the handle material to the point where it fits my needs.

Note: Thsoe who will be carrying inverted will probably like the nice, tight fit.
