Problems with Radway Green?

A good friend and I just bought a bunch of RG for training use. It runs fine in my carbine, which is 100 percent Colt. My friend's gun appears to eat anything under the sun except RG.

While he's busy trying to figure this one out, it occurred to me that I seem to recall some problems with guns running RG with a '92 headstamp. Was that something I hallucinated, or can someone corroborate that?

Thanks

I remember reports of the RG being underpowered. The story I remember was that they were loading it lighter to keep from beating their bullpups (I don't remember their designation, I want to say L85) to death.

Oh, found it, from the ammo oracle:

(Under Q: what brands of m855 are available?)
"It should be noted, though that the Radway Green ammo is underloaded specifically to function in their horrible L-85A (SA80) bullpup rifle and may not cycle in other rifles."

The Radway Green would not cycle in one of our 20" rifles, but it worked fine in our carbines.

I do not have any personal experience with the current stock being sold.
For what it is worth - But I do remember reading some posting about short cycling with this ammo. Which may indicate that it is loaded a bit light.

No problems here either, and maybe I got a different batch but the RG that I'm shooting is definately not underpowered.

Wow. I thought I remembered reading that it was around the 92's that the problems were occurring.

AIM is out of Radway...

Darn!

Radway

I bought a new 14.5 BCM carbine upper from M4arc in the summer, he also put on a DD 7.0 on for me. I threw in a brand new CMT Bolt/BC, nothing special.

I am beat the living hell out of the upper and 200 rounds of Gunshow Radway is a part of it. No problems. Get it.

I am going through a bunch of Wolf M193 Brass Cased, wit ZERO malfunctions on over 10 boxes.

Radway Green is PEOPLE!

Sorry, every time I see that name, I can't help but think of that movie.

I have gone through 2000 rounds of Radway 62 gn ammo. No problems.
All have been through a 11.5 barrel, some semi some auto.
I purchased a 1000 rds and then another 1000 rds almost a year later. It seemed to be full power 5.56 and not lighter .223 ammo.

I would buy it again.

As mentioned on another thread, we purchase 100k of the Radway and after firing 10k worth of ammo, I have not encounter a single malfunction.

We fire the ammo mostly from 14.5-inch barrels or shorter and with ZERO malfunctions. Last weekend, I fire 1k worth of belted ammo through a M249 and a Mk46 Mod 00, with (once again) no malfunctions.

BTW, so far, all the rounds fired were marked with a "'92" headstamp.

I'm like to know the real story...

Eric
