My plan - any suggestions?

My dream carbine is a mid-length flat-top with a chrome lined, 1/7, 16", standard weight barrel. No rails or optics at this time. My first idea was to go to RRA and then see if I could get a different barrel put on it. Then I discovered Bravo Company Manufacturing, who have my dream upper to a "T" and MPI'd no less. Then I found out these are not currently available. Now I am back to RRA - just go w/ a 90% solution, then sell the upper to get the BCM, when they become available.

My current carbine is an Oly Arms CAR-97 (I was new to the civilian AR world when I bought it, before anyone laughs) which is going to get the axe to pay for some of the new carbine. Is there anything I am overlooking here?

You are overlooking CMMG and Sabre Defense. CMMG has quite a lot to offer. Check them out at www.CMMGing.com.

I have a 14.5" upper from CMMG and love it. I do not have any experience with Sabre.
