swapped rails on my 10.5" SBR

I replaced my Daniel Defense 9" Lite Rail with a Daniel Defense RIS II Mk18 rail. Also switch from foliage green furniture to FDE/coyote brown.

Looks good! One day, I might do something with my LMT 10.5/RAS. Maybe just do a whole new upper along your lines here.

    Robb-

Any particular reason why you switched from the Lite Rail to the Mk18?
Could you talk about the difference in feel/performance as it relates to your use?

    Thanks hombre.

damn Gotm4 im drooling over both layouts, but IMHO the foliage green one is a shade more nasty! Very nice shooter pal!

I too would like to know the differences, as they seem pretty similar from just seeing pictures.

Another question to GotM4 - I see the RIS is a two piece rail, or what I can make out from the DD website. Is it the bottom or the top that is fixed? I assume the top, but looking for a decent Ares piston FF rail that allows for easy removal of the top rail - similar to an LWRC rail.

Yeah I would be interested in the reason for the change too.

I changed it out of personal preference over the Lite Rail. Nothing wrong with Lite Rails at all.

Things I like the RISII Mk18 rail over a 9" Lite Rail are:

The RIS II is stronger than the Lite Rail, but for my purposes either works as good as the other (IIRC Joe Marler told me they're made to survive 5K rounds of 203 ammo shot while mounted....again this doesn't really matter to me).
Ability to remove the bottom rail for inspection, cleaning etc.
Bottom rail is shorter (closer to the rifle barrel) so I can get my support hand higher up on the gun.
I like the longer 9.5" rail that nearly touches my suppressor.
My 9.0" Lite Rail was an early one that wasn't relief cut and couldn't slide over a gas block/gas tube.
The RIS II like the newer Lite Rails have the ability to slide over a mounted flash hider and gas block and gas tube.

    Downsides:

RIS II is a tiny bit heavier.
