G2 "Package Deal" from Grant????
What is the advantage of the Z49 tailcap swap and Z32 bezel swap as seen here?
http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin...ction&key=G2-P
WHY is this done? I think the original G2 tailcap is also pushbutton, is it not? What advantages does this offer?
Furthermore, the SF catalog only lists the Z58 and Z59 tailcaps as options for the G2, so what's up with the Z49 as seen on Grants site ie "G2 Package deal"???
Thanks.

The bezel is an antishock bezel, so it can survive on an AR. The tailcap on the G2 is a push to activate button. The replacement tailcap that Grant offers is a click-on tailcap. So you can partially depress the cap for momentary light or click it on for constant light. So thats the deal.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I saw Larry Vickers using a G2 on his AK, and it didn't appear to have this Z32 head, so I'm wondering WHICH G2 he has? I know it was an OD green G2, and the G2L (LED version) does NOT come in OD green. It only comes in BLK and YELLOW.
SO, I'm now wondering WHAT G2 he was using on his AK?
Finally, I also now need to find out what is the difference between the Z49 that Grant offers, and the Z58 and Z59 tailcap switch units?
Anyone know?
Thanks guys.

Another advantage of the Z49 is that it partially guards the button, helping to reduced accidental light discharge.

The Z49 unit has a rubber shroud around the button, so it's harder to push. Aside from that rubber shroud, they are all basically the same as being click on/off and push lightly for momentary on.
The Z49 = black anodized with rubber shroud
Z58 = Hard anodized natural
z59 = regular black anodized
For the which G2 question, it was probably just a regular one. The shock isolated head is nice and gives you some extra protection to keep the filament of the bulb from breaking. Surefire bulbs are tough, and the AR's recoils is gentle.

Thanks guys.
On a seperate note, does anyone know if the SF SCOUT's smaller incandescant head has the shock isolated bezel?
I know the larger LU60 head does, but I don't want this huge head. I am more interested in the LED head, and the smaller incand head. My SF catalog says the larger LU60 DOES have "shock isolation", but it does NOT state anything about the smaller incand head of the SCOUT.
Anyone know?
Also, does anyone know if the new "Desert Sand Brown" colored SCOUT is anodized? The only pic I've seen seems to appear that it IS anodized, but I always heard that FDE could not be done in anodizing, and the pic I saw actually does look like true FDE.
Just wondering if it's indeed anodized?

i was under the impression that the shock isolated bezil was more for the P60 Lamp since the led versions are less likely to fail from shock? i installed a P60L LED and skipped the isolating bezel (actually sold it once it arrived)

A shock isolated bezel is not necessary for use on a 5.56mm carbine.

Especially with a plastic bodied light. It'll absorb shocks a metal 6P will pass on to the bulb.
Don't get wrapped around the axle on this shock isolation thing. Just get a G2, stick it in the mount of your choice and drive on.
