Colt pre-ban types for base for custom-build in AWB state

I reside in an AWB-state. I am looking for a Colt pre-ban lower or complete rifle. Although I have searched the forum, I am not suficiently familiar with the different variations to make an infomed purchase.

I intend to use the lower to build a custom rifle but with the prohibited features.

I know that there are big hole and little hole versions, sear blocks, white boxes and blue boxes.

Could you recommend specific models/variations in order of preference?

I would also consider other manufacturer's lowers, but I have not seen much online, and the prices for some potentially lesser-quality brands are not substantially less than some complete Colt rifles.

I currently have two post-ban custom-builds with top-notch components, such as LaRue handguards, BCM and WOA barrels, etc., but I would like a rifle without a pinned and welded break and with a folding stock. Thanks, but I can't move just yet.

There are three preban Colt rifles at the shop where I work part time. I don't know exact prices off the top of my head, but one is an SP1 carbine in awesome shape (around $950), one an SP1 rifle (around $950) in new condition, and a Match HBAR (around $900). This was as of two days ago; some may be sold already.

There is also a decent deal on Sturm:

If you're interested in one of the guns at the shop, email me at jsurowitz@aREMOVETHISol.com, taking out the REMOVETHIS.

Mods, if this is too much like an ad, I apologize and will delete it.....just trying to help a brother out.

You might consider getting a lower from some other source and having it flushed out with Colt parts. That will save you all of Colt's peculiarities, including the price.

Just a thought.

Well, went to the shop today. The SP1 Carbine and HBAR are on Gunbroker at auction. The SP1 rifle is $995.

If you want a Colt, I'd look for a Blue Label that has the small front pushpin and has the hole drilled for the pushpin spring/detent. These will have the larger (.170 inch) fire control pin holes, but I would rather that than have a larger diameter front pushpin.

Thanks for your replies.

Josh, I sent you an email for more info about large hole/small hole, etc.

Grant, I want to stick with 5.56, but thank you.

Grant, BTW, the POF lower is sweet! Just need a BCG so I can shoot it.

Just drive the pins out and remove the block. That's what I did with my 6450 when I SBRd it.
