Finally placed my order w/ G&R today! The basic BCM Upper was in my "shopping cart" for the past week while I waited for my new Visa Debit Card (had to open new account b/c of unwanted but upcoming divorce).
Just before placing the order, I decided to look around Grants site a little and found the new hammer forged barrel upper option. Swapped it out with the basic BCM upper and placed the order soon after. Here's what I ordered:
1. BCM Middy upper w/ Hammer forged barrel.
2. Daniel Defense 9" Omega.
3. BCM complete lower w/ Magpul components INCLUDING the ACS stock.
4. 3 Magpul Pmags.
5. Specter Gear Sling.
YAY!
I can't wait!

Looks great!
Are these barrels heavier than a standard M4 profile barrel (in other words are uppers equipped with this barrel heavier than one equipped with an M$ profile barrel)?
thanks

While most are happy, I am actually a little upset. I just got three regular BCM middies and thought I was all set, and then these come along and now I am trying to figure out how to justify it. Dang.
Someone tell me that I need to just run what I have and be happy and that being bereft of this awesome forging will be OK. Someone please!!

Your BCM Middies will serve you just fine. Shoot them, enjoy them and don't worry about it.

Grant,
What are the advantages of a cold hammer forged barrel VS a conventional BCM middy barrel? Are they stronger overall? Does a HFB last longer or have a higher round count barrel life?

I think you are generally going to see more longevity out of them. How much, I cannot say.
What I tend to notice is better accuracy (inline with a lot of the SS barrels on the market).
