PMC Bronze 55 FMJ... as good as Q3131A1?

I need more quality M193 style ammo for use in training classes, and for a rainy day.

I see that Ammo to go has PMC Bronze for $189 per 500rds. I've never used PMC Bronze ammo, but remember last year at this time it was selling locally for over $400 per 500rds.

I also see that they have Win. Q3131A1 for $238 per 500rds. The Winchester Q3131 ammo I've used many times before and trust.

Question is... Is the PMC Bronze ammo in any way comparable to the Win. Q3131A1?

I am getting to the 'danger low' level with my .223/5.56 ammo, and feel it is an appropriate use of Christmas bonus money to get more now while I can.

I've shot a couple cases of PMC over the last year. Never had any problems hitting MGM targets from 200-300 yards with it. It is however a couple hundred FPS than M193. If it's cheap and you're just using it to plink, I say go for it.

I recently shot about 800 rounds of it at a course and it worked great. No issues.

We shot up to about 50 yards IIRC and I got satisfactory groups.

I get slightly better groups with PMC than Q3131A in my 1/9 twist Stag upper.
both run flawless for me.

PMC Bronze is .223 Rem. It is good "cheap" ammo and quality control is decent. I have never had any problems with it.

Q3131 is true 5.56 stuff, loaded to M193 specs. It is obviously loaded hotter than the PMC.

So, it depends on what you're after. True 5.56, M193 or quality, affordable training ammo.

Thanks for the help guys.

I bet if I got more Q3131 I would be too afraid to shoot it up anyway! So perhaps some plinking/training ammo that I would actually use would be a better idea.

Q3131 does make me happy though... bought this in 2006 for $4.00 a box... ahh the good old days.

I shoot PMC and Privi exclusively. I have never had problems with PMC in terms of accuracey, quality and overall performance.

378.00/1k is pretty high. Palmetto State Armory has PMC for 329.00/1k.

Been running PMC Bronze for the last 6 months as well. No problems. And about the only ammo I trust running through my suppressors to boot!

I've made 400yd hits on steel, one shot hits, in my SR-15 without any issues. It's cheap, and ballistically 55gr is well...it's so so. But for the price it's good, very good.

+1

I just got a case of 1000 from them, it arrived 2 days ago, $12 for shipping, makes it $341 delivered. I was very plesantly surprised. I know there is cheaper ammo out there. But most of that is steel cased or reloads.

I might want to get rid of 500 rds of UMC now that I was able to get the 1000 of PMC. I'm gonna start another thread on ehich is better UMC or PMC.
