USED 92FS/92F for as low as $299

I was browsing slickdeals and came across this. It looks like J&G Sales. I have never delt with them before but this seems like a good deal for a solid pistol.

Not a bad deal considering my local Gander Mountain had a couple that looked like they just came from 10 years in the sand box from a few abusive Marines, at the low price of $499.99.

Now don't get me wrong, I've got love for my M9... I do. But this may not be the best deal depending on how used these are. Berettas don't exactly age gracefully.

i've never had any interest in the berettas, but for three bills i might consider it.. what's the worst case with these things? is it just a matter of replacing some small and inexpensive parts, or could it be a total waste of d'oh?

Look for cracks - all OK get a new spring(or make sure it is longer than the barrel approx 5") - Beretta was even selling "update" packs - parts and mags are plentiful and cheap - what else can you say. Its a deal.

since they're police trades, worn bores are unlikely.. so there's no other major component wear part issue that might make this a bad deal?

Not really, there's a small chance the locking block could be cracked, in which case it should be replaced. They can be had brand new for about $50 and secondhand new for $30 or so pretty easily.

The Beretta 92 platform has a long history of good performance in law enforcement and military circles. I myself have owned two of them (and continue to own one), they are exquisite pistols - if I had spare cash I'd definitely pick up one or two of these as extras.

As a plus, mags and parts are ubiquitous and cheap, and the 92 platform is known for it's exceptional accuracy (and, as an aside, some of the smoothest, easiest to rack slides I've ever encountered).

Well the 92FS was introduced in 1989, so probably around 1990, 1991 area.
