Magpul AFG question

Have any of you guys who have these had to lightly do some custom tailoring to the inner lips that rub against the handguard? To clarify better, not the part that goes on the picitanny rail but the curves on each side that curve next to the handguard. Pic below. I have a midwest T12 free floating handguard on my BCM and its rubbing it pretty good.

Mine went on my Knight's rail no problems, but i saw somewhere that the Larue rail was rubbing as well.

I know that it probably wont damage my handguard when I tighten it on. I just figured that maybe some light sanding on the inner side of it might get it away from the handguard a bit.

I don't have mine in hand yet but I've been told that it may cause issues with the Larue rail and the XTM rail panels due to the rail design. I'll post some pics when mine gets here from DSG.

For the $35 it was worth it to try one out so we'll see if it replaces my FUG's.

I had to file mine down in a couple spots. To get the tango down rail covers to fit with it, I had to file down the horizontal part. I also had to file down the right side where the shelf is in order to get my LT light mount to fully close. Took just a few minutes of grinding with a bench grinder and test fitting to get it right.

I got my AFG in yesterday and put it all together last night.

I'm running the LaRue 9.0 rail and it doesn't work quite right with it. It will fit on the rail ok but the flared portion you're refering to rides just up under the side rail sections and precludes use of any accessories there.

Not too big a deal since the flared ends can be basically ground off or reshaped. Once I do that I think everything will be fine.

So if someone out there has a LaRue FF rail and was discouraged by reports of it not working right with an AFG they can get it all together with minimal effort and a dremel and sanding wheel or something along those lines. I can't see that it would compromise any integrity of the structure of the AFG.

I've got my sandpaper ready for some reshaping since all I have are Larue rails.

Anyone know how it fits with a Vltor CASV rail system?

It took some reshaping with my dremel but it works very well now on my MI T12 hanguard. For those of you who have midwest handguards I am pretty sure you will have to do some sanding on the inside of the curves so it's not putting tons of pressure on the sides of the hanguard above the bottom rail. All in all it works great and I highly recommend!!!

Just make sure you don't get to happy with a dremel if you use one.
