Subject matter expert (SME) advisor to US FBI, US DEA, US TSA, US NSA and other agencies as well as an active federal use-of-force training contractor utilized by US DOJ, US DHS, US DOD, etc., Steve Tarani is a federally certified firearms instructor and full-time training provider of operational skills to high-profile agencies. His programs of instruction have been accepted as standard curriculum for a number of US federal and state-accredited programs throughout the US federal operational and training community.

Possessing unique knowledge and information valuable to the enabling of security force/ LEO personnel in the areas of personal safety and rapid engagement force options, Steve Tarani is the published author of a number of books, training DVDs and trade journal publications. Tarani is additionally the architect of the recently commissioned International Chiefs of Police (IACP) Model Policy on the carry and usage of knives by federal, state and municipal peace officers.

Currently sworn in the State of California, Tarani is the former CEO of Operational Skills Group, LLC (CA), on staff at U.S. D.O.E. NNSI/ CTA Security Force Training Dept. at Kirtland Air Force Base (NM), Pershing County Sheriff’s Office (NV) and is currently an active advisor to US DOD (VA) as well as on staff at Gunsite Academy (AZ). Mr. Tarani has additionally designed and developed edged tools for Buck Knives, Strider Knives, 5.11 Tactical and others.

This program of instruction covers the fundamentals of Edged Weapons in the areas of personal recovery and safety – unarmed (you don’t have a gun), tactical carry and rapid deployment of your own folding (pocket knife) or fixed blade, basic and advanced disarming and overall personal safety skills in both open and confined areas of engagement. Training includes basic operational skills utilizing fixed and folding blades, ring knives, improvised edged weapons, etc., as well as hostage recovery including solving stalemate conditions, hostage scenarios solutions and grappling with a knife. The central focus of this program of instruction is to develop personal safety skills in the area of edged weapons defense where you have no access to a firearm and have nothing but your bare hands. No prior training is required whatsoever and course program provides the practitioner functional training drills as “homework” to sustain their personal skills long after completion of the course.

- Rigid Professional Training Knife (not flexible rubber or toy),

I just got an e-mail from Steve Tarani saying this class is cancelled. Next class is scheduled for October, so I'll have to see if I can make that one.

Unfortunately this is correct.

Due to a scheduling conflict this class is now Oct 16-17, 2010. Everyone from the August class should be receiving an email notifying them of the change ASAP.

One side benefit is the weather will be a hell of a lot cooler in Oct rather than August.
