Colt's Tactical Pistol?

Has anyone seen this thing before? I'm not sure when this article is from, since it's not dated, but the comments begin in the fall of 08.

http://www.tactical-life.com/online/...ctical-pistol/

looks like a cross between a Ruger and CZ-40B/Colt Z40. Interesting in the way that I find most prototypes interesting.

I don't know but they have a new DA pistol that was unveiled at the SHOT Show. Here's the tactical pistol:

And here is a photo of the new DA pistol that has been floating around the internet:

It looks like there are some similarities between the two.

Uh, eh, hmm. Okay, how about sticking with the 1911 platform and something special like a 100th Anniversary model for next year?

It makes the Rail Gun all the better.

The negative reactions to the Colt DA pistol seem illogical to me.

I'm neither a traditionalist nor an aesthete. If that Colt DA gun has a trigger that is at least as good as a Glock or an HK LEM, AND it goes bang every time the trigger is pulled, then I would buy one. Looks like an aluminum frame, though. Hopefully they've worked out the durability kinks of al 1911s. Lord knows they've had long enough to experiment and push the state of the art.

I'm also a lover of competition. I HOPE that DA gun kicks ass just because there is a dearth of good guns out there. And most of the good ones don't have a lot of distinct features to differentiate them from each other.

Competition makes everyone better. I also HOPE that the Sig E2 guns do well. And the new FN FNX pistols. Previously I had hoped that the Beretta PX4 guns would be good, but it seems consensus is that they have missed the mark. Too bad. We're all the poorer when a gun maker fails.

Taurus can lick my balls, though.

Am I crazy?

Obviously alone on this, but I think the experimental rail version is nice looking simple design (if it is steel frame and without problems of double eagle or All American). Certainly doesn't have the myriad of levers found on new S&W Bodyguard 380. If it worked, I would buy it. Don't care for the version that was released at SHOT though.

I think it's got a little bit of H&K in the trigger guard.

The reactions are probably due to Colt's two prior DA pistols, the Double Eagle and the All American 2000. Both designs were not very successful (and I'm being polite here).

They're ugly as hell. But I'd try it.

However, can we get away with the GI style sights on the DA pistol? Maybe something a little...I don't know....modern????

It looks like they dusted off the old Colt All American 2000.

That design looks like the worst of both worlds. The limited mag capacity of a single stack gun without the really nice single action trigger. I hope they sell a ton but I won't be one of them.
