AR performance qd sling mount for trx extreme

http://www.ar15performance.com/inc/sdetail/620

anyone have one? i have a complete lmt upper with the trx extreme. i called ar performance and the girl who answered said this product will not work on my gun. i can't figure out why. i am almost certain that my gun's barrel is less then .800 in diameter. being that my upper is an m4 upper, wouldn't that constitute it being m4 profile? like i said, i called to order and she said they were for low profile barrels only. i'm confused. if anyone has one of these mounts on a standard m4 setup, let me know!

It will work fine with your barrel contour. They're a better option than clamping a q/d adapter to a piece of rail attached to the handguard.

The only problem i've had with them (sample size of 2) is the hole for the q/d swivel is too tight. Depending on the brand of q/d swivel, it will range from never-gonna-detach to will-detach-with-much-gnashing-of-teeth to snug-but-sorta-quick-detach.

I mic'd the hole and they need to open it up a couple thou to work more smoothly.

Also, keep in mind that it doesn't have rotation limiters (I don't know who thought that was a good idea). So your sling will get all twisted up when you use it. But it's nothing a little WECSOG'n won't fix.

You might consider the VTAC low profile sling mount: http://vikingtactics.com/prod_vtac_lpsm.html

It has rotation limiters, and bolts to the top of the rail, while moving the actual QD socket to either side.

One carefully placed glob of JB Weld and voila...limited rotation

The Viking Tactics mount still needs a rail to clamp to. The AR15 Performance QD adapter is much lower profile. All you need is a .5" hole in your handguard. Troy should have done something similar when they came out with the Extremes, IMO. The only other thing similar to the AR15 Performance QD adapters are the ones PRI sells for their handguard tubes.

I ordered one of these earlier this week... Hopefully it comes soon so I can use this rail to its fullest potential!

The rail the Vtac mounts to is already there on top of the tube.

I'm still waiting on the Magpul RSA since I'm using a HK snaphook for the front of my sling.
