There have been a few reviews on here if you search. They have been available for a bit less then a year now. Great rifle. I really like mine.

As far as I know, this is the current M&P15 VTAC that is available. S&W and Viking unveiled a new version at this year's ShotShow - new Troy VTAC floating tube, fluted bbl, Troy stock and grip, light mount (no Surefire) and Troy BUIS as I recall. I've not been able to determine a release date or ballpark MSRP as I'm interested in this version as well.

FYI Bud's also shows the original rifle at a price much lower than MSRP too.

If you can get the LE/MIL pricing, the S&W VTAC is especially attractive. Just note that it doesn't come with the Troy sights, which will cost you another $200+.

I'd also look at the new Noveske VTAC.

That's one thing that is appealing to me about the 'new' 2010 VTAC shown on the video - comes with Troy sights.
I have looked at the Noveske website - I really like that rifle! Good article in this month's edition of SWAT mag too.
I'm curious how the two (Smith v. Noveske) compare price wise......................

Fair enough, though I think after adding on the Troy sights the price difference between the Smith and Noveske will be negligible. Also, the Noveske uses the latest VTAC/Troy freefloat tube, while the S&W is using the older J&P system.

I think the upcoming S&W VTAC with the Troy accessories and fluted barrel in the video looks very intriguing and might be worth waiting for.

You might want to send a note to Grant at G&R and see if he can beat that price (assuming he stocks the S&W VTAC model). The VTAC rifle is certainly the best of S&W's lineup. Good luck.

Nope, I'm trying to find out. I emailed back and forth with S&W and after a few exchanges it was clear the guy on their end doesn't know about the new product. I sent him a copy of the 2010 ShotShow YouTube video link, re-asked the question and haven't heard back since.

I'd like to compare the price, specs and availablity of the vew Smith with the Noveske VTAC. Let us know if you find out.....................
