M4 questions

I know the short barreled ar's need a larger gas port, but what would happen if you had a regular 16 inch barrel and milled into it a larger gas port, would it have any negative effects? or would it be like an ak and be over gassed but wouldn't hurt it???

Probably just over gassed...increased wear on some parts, and more felt recoil by the shooter?

Being overgassed sucks. You break bolts, wear out springs and carriers faster, wear out gas keys faster, wear out extractors faster, risk extraction malfunctions due to bolt bounce and so on.

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing, stick to the spec.

Why would you want to mess with the gas port at all?
