Both of my parents served in the PTO during WW2 - my dad was an Army Captain and my mom was an Army Nurse. Many of the photographs shown were taken of areas or battles in which they had been involved.
My father passed away several years ago, but my mom has since written a journal highlighting her experiences at the 227th Station Field Hospital. It's now in the Library of Congress.
Notice the dropped pineapple grenade on the beach in pic #52...
My Grandfather fought in the Pacific as well.

Lots of bravery shown in those pictures, thanks for posting.

I will show these to Grandpa tonight. He is coming over for his 87th Birthday dinner.
Pic #29, the Native stretcher bearers.....he was carried for nearly 10 hours by these guys after being shot. The Jeep on Gaudalcanal will make him smile. One of his fondest memories is when they STOLE a Jeep from Henderson Field.
#87, The flag raising at Mt. Suribachi is the greatest photo ever taken.
