bolt carrier assembly

I was going to order a new bolt carrier assembly to replace my current one and use the old one as a spare, but I forgot that my DPMS will not work with a supposedly tier 1 or tier 2 bolt carrier assembly. I will have to order from Stag it looks like..

Why would a DPMS upper not work with a better than DPMS carrier?

I don't think they are the same as Stag left hand carriers.

I'd get a Stag LH upper receiver and a Stag LH BCG. I'd also remove the carrier key, use new carrier key screws, torque and stake it properly before using. Stag does a horrible job of staking carriers I've fixed dozens that have come lose.

I've seen a left handed DPMS and I was not impressed at all. It looked like they took a standard upper receiver, cut the ejection port on the opposite side, used a standard BCG and just used a different bolt head. I could see (and remove) the cotter pin through the ejection port. As I said, not impressed.
