Obama's aunt given political asylum and public housing.
How the fuck does she have a "legal defense team" when she's living in public housing on our tax dollars? The judge miraculously reverses his decision after she stayed here illegally, why? There's so much bullshit to the entire story I can't see straight. http://news.bostonherald.com/news/re...ome&position=0
Quote:
President Obama’s unsinkable Kenyan Aunt Zeituni Onyango - already adopted by her South Boston neighbors with open arms - can now call her L Street public housing home sweet home, after she was granted political asylum yesterday.
“She’s a very nice person - very well-spoken. I don’t mind her staying here. That’s life,” said Marion Swain, one of Onyango’s delighted pals at the Boston Housing Authority’s Monsignor Powers apartments, where the quirky, towering half-sister of Obama’s late father has become a fixture at Friday night bingo.
It remains a mystery how Aunt Zeituni’s legal team got the immigration judge to reverse himself on deportation, but the White House insists the president had nothing to do with it.
A man sunning himself in the Southie projects courtyard flashed two big thumbs up on hearing that U.S. Immigration Court Judge Leonard I. Shapiro - whose initial 2004 deportation order Onyango defied, staying in the United States illegally - would now let her apply for a work visa and green card based on private testimony she provided in February.
The basis of her request to remain in the United States has not been made public. Her defense team has claimed she suffers from the paralyzing autoimmune disorder Guillian-Barre syndrome, and one lawyer last year cited “violence in Kenya.”
“She’s a lady,” cooed a wheelchair-bound woman before Boston cops showed up at Aunt Zeituni’s behest to bounce the gathering press gaggle yesterday.
“I’m naked! I don’t want to be disturbed,” Onyango barked at news crews from her fourth-floor flat. She yelled at one local TV newsman, “Are you a predator?”
Onyango, 57, celebrated her victory by ordering $8.55 worth of takeout from the L Street Diner, rewarding her deliveryman with a $2 tip.
“She orders from us every week: soup, wings, fries,” the deliveryman said.
When asked to remark on her good fortune, Onyango referred questions to her legal team. Co-counsel Scott Bratton told reporters the asylum process is confidential and Onyango “wants to keep it that way. She doesn’t want people to feel sorry for her.”
Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro said yesterday the White House had no involvement in the case at any point in the process. Harold Ort, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declined to say if federal officials will appeal Shapiro’s decision.
“Absent a waiver-of-consent form, ICE does not comment on individuals or specific cases,” Ort said.
Despite all the denials of any string-pulling by her nephew the president, Aunt Zeituni’s friends in Southie were skeptical.
“She’s got to live somewhere. She’s going to end up staying here one way or another,” Dave Mann said. Asked if he suspected presidential intervention, Mann laughed and said, “I think that might have helped.”

She's the presidents aunt. The hell do you think was going to happen?
Being tied to a person of power has its perks.

Maybe following the law and deporting her criminal ass. Being here illegally combined with making illegal campaign contributions and somehow living in public housing for the past 6 1/2 years seems like enough to me. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle5061593.ece

After hearing about this today, I lost a little hope. Heart sunk, and it sucks.

I agree with you, but the Obama administration won't even enforce immigration laws with regards to the other 12-25 million(?) illegal aliens inside of our borders; can he really be expected to enforce them when his relatives are involved?
When I am told that POTUS' relationship played no role in the decision, and that this administration is serious about cracking down on illegal immigration, I say, "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining"!

I agree with you and anyone who states that this would be the obvious outcome. However, I would expect that the amount of favoritism shown to his illegally residing family members would be given some press... never mind... have a good day.

Why does it always seem that when the opposition does things like this it is able to fly under the radar but if say, Bush did something like this all hell would have broken loose.

Because the criminal-liberal media loves Obama and the Progressive party.
Remember how disappointed they were when they found out the Time Square bomber wasn't a Tea Party member?

If it took this to deprive you of hope than you must have been fortunate enough to have missed numerous other hope diminishing events that have occurred well prior.

I honestly don't care. This is too trivial and too "business-as-usual" to make a fuss over.
It's good to be the king, if you happen to be the king's aunt, you get to ride for free.
In the grand scheme of things it makes no meaningful difference.
I was amused by the "Shit Happens After Mindless Elections" poster. Unfortunately the last election I remember that wasn't entirely mindless was Clinton v. Dole in '96.

I really can't do anything but just laugh at this. I wasn't a fan of Dubya either, but could you imagine the uproar if he did something along these lines? I think I'm just about at the point where I don't give a shit anymore.

I live in MA and the question that I have been asking all along is how does someone who is here not only illegally but is here illegally in defiance to a court order mandating she leave the country qualify for public housing?

To believe that a sycophantic system won't protect someone connected to the apex of the turd shows a cute but sad level of naiveity.
