On May 1st 2010, Mike Ehredt, a retired Postal Clerk and Army Veteran, touched the wheel of his jogger stroller in the Pacific Ocean in Astoria, OR and began an epic 4514 mile journey across the country to Honor and Remember Service Members lost in Iraq. He is currently placing flags that hold a yellow ribbon bearing the Name, Rank, Service, Age and Hometown of those whose dreams and ambitions were taken so quickly from us. The flags are being placed each mile along the roads he is traveling in reverse chronological order by date of death, till the very last flag is placed on the shores of the Atlantic in Rockland, Maine.

This is a personal tribute, a silent memorial for those who have served with dignity and honor and whose sacrifice will never be forgotten.

On May 21st, 2011, Armed Forces Day, I will set out on a journey to honor and remember the 3000 victims of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, along with our military members and civil servants who protect our nation each and every day.

I will be running across America carrying the America flag every step of the way. My run begins in Boston, MA, the departure point of American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, which were both flown into the World Trade Center, and American Airlines Flight 77 which was crashed into the Pentagon.

My first destination will be Ground Zero in New York City, and then I'll make my way to Washington D.C. to visit the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery. I'll continue on to the United Airlines Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA and honor the hero's of that flight.

From there, I will make my way across this great nation to encourage the citizens of America to NEVER FORGET the many faces that we lost on September 11th, 2001, not only from the United States, but from over 90 other countries from around the world.

After 3400+ miles of running, my journey will finally come to an end on September 11th in Los Angeles, CA, which was to be the final destination for American Airlines Flight 11, American Airlines Flight 77, and United Airlines Flight 175.

The task is very noble... but I can't help but feel that this guy has seen Forest Gump too many times...

It's 2 different guys. 1 is currently running and the other one starts next year. I think it's a noble cause.
