Compatability of Mega Billit uper and LaRue handguard

Guys just started to assemble my dream rifle.

The Rifile has a MEGA Billit matched upper and lower and they are sweet. Well yesterday I got to the handguard mounting point and found that the keeper on the back of the the LaRue hand guard was cut out for a forged upper. My slick MEGA Billit upper is thicker so the cutouts of this keeper are too narrow.

Question to you experts is: how to resolve this.

1. Send it back and get a ?

1.a DD12" lite ?? I've seen these posted on this forum with MEGA before.

2. get out a file and relieve the keeper of this metal so it fits the thicker walls of the Billit upper.

3. Some other technical feat.

THANKS !

john

I say, get a different handguard.

The DD lite and Omega X will work. There might be other's also.
I used the Omega X, and it fit great.

Go with DD Omega X.

what's the difference bteween the lite and the omega x ?

Thanks guys

the DD lite just looked like too many holes .. too tacticool.

is the omega x just a less pimped out version ?

thanks, good advice and looks like a winner to me.

The lite rail has the holes for weight reduction.

DD isn't a tacti-cool company.

Depends on what you're looking for.

I can't see a real reason not to run a lite rail though.

if you can actually modify the keeper to fit, this is, without a doubt, the answer.. but are you sure you'll still be able to get the screws in there if you do this?

when the MURs first came out, people either dremeled the upper or just left the keeper off. both work.

personally, i wouldn't let a gay little thing like incompatibility keep me from my ambitions.
