Quickie 400 round LMT MRP 12.5" Piston range report

Quick range report with the LMT Piston 12.5" MRP

Config:
LMT MRP upper with 12.5" piston
Colt 6920 lower
6 POS mil spec tube
H2 Buffer
3 PMAGS, 2 USGI mags with Magpul followers
KAC rail covers
Aimpoint T1
ADM Mount (absolute co-witness)
ARMS #40 Rear BUIS
Troy AR15 type front BUIS

Zero'ed at 25 meters. Best groups were about the size of a dime. Sometimes the holes were touching. Sometimes not.

Furthest target was 100 meters. Average group size about the size of an English muffin with the T1. Groups were tighter with irons

200 rounds PMC - Most accurate, 0 malfunctions

100 rounds Wolf Classic - Least accurate, multiple FTE. Not enough oopmh to cycle the weapon reliably. The XCR is still the only gun I have that loves wolf.

100 Federal M193 - 0 malfunctions

No signs of carrier tilt
Bolt was cool to touch at all times
Rail did heat up, but it wasnt bad. Dont touch the gas block without Nomex gloves though

The recoil was light. Not worse than DI, but the impulse does feel different.

Try a regular carbine or H1 to see if it cycles Wolf....

Disappointing it had a problem with Wolf as both my LMT 14.5 (H3) and LMT 10.5 (H2) eat the stuff like candy. Wolf/Brown Bear/Hornady Practice is the line share of my training ammo.

Thanks for the range report VB.

I'll try a different Lot of Wolf and bring a different buffers next time I go to range and try and determine what the deal is with Wolf

Outside of that, the MRP is a nice piece of kit.

Great shooting pal and nice to read you rr on your MRP

For a comparsion, here are three 10rd. groups shot using a MRP 16" CL config'd with a T-1 and co witnessed using lower 1/3rd.

I am so used to shooting with the Eotech, that that T1 dot seemed huge.

I am sure I can get tighter groups with a little more practice with the T1 and better ammo

I have seen a shrinkage of prob. .5" in my groups overtime with the T1 and I find that using the lower 1/3rd cowitness helps a good bit when shooting more methodically at extended range

Those groups above were shot using the best stuff I can justifiable afford for shooting anything 1x....which is Hornady vmax 55gr. non moly and for some more reference my MRP SPR SS 18" shoots that load about .80"-1" groups @ 100m, so its def. not a shabby load.

Keep us updated if you have the time pal
