Upgrade time for AR10 - Opinions please

Ok here is my sad AR10, 20" barrel.

I'm saving for a Nikon Monarch X (eye relief on the Bushnell blows). My main goal however is upgrading the rail. I HATE this one, it's heavy and not very attractive. I want to put a low profile gas block and cover it but I need a rail long enough to do so. As you all know rails for the 308's are limited. I'm thinking about this look/rail

but they are only 12.5". SWS makes a 15" which would be perfect but they have some sort of integrated hand rail that throws the whole look off. Any other ideas??? Thanks

DD had a limited production of 14" rails. Good luck finding them.. the next longest would be Troy's MRF-308 rail, which is 13.8" long. It *almost* covers the gas block completely. I've used the Troy MRF-308 and the DD AR10 Lite 12" rail. They're both nice. I preferred the DD mounting system, but liked the Troy rails better.

This is, of course, assuming you keep the rifle length gas system. If you go carbine length and shorten your barrel, your options open up to a whole 'nother level.

Or you could do the SWS 15"..

All the rails I was referring to are the AR10/DPMS LR308 variety. DD made a 14" rail VERY briefly for the AR10/DPMS LR308 platform. That is why I said good luck finding one..

Here's a thread on another forum petitioning for the 14" rail:

Look at the Troy MRF. They have them in 13.8 and will cover the gas block. Mine is on order now and I'll post pics here for you this weekend when it gets in and I install it. Plus they are $250 shipped on GB which is a pretty good deal!

Will certainly do. I'll keep you updated. My friend has one on his and it's awesome. I don't know if you are going for a "monolithic" look to your upper but this will provide it. I usually go with Larue rails on my rifles but it gives you a gap between the receiver and the rails. The DD's are really nice but they are impossible to find for LR308's, not to mention at least $100+ over the Troy. I was heavily looking at the SWS rail and they are nice, but for some reason the front looks like there isn't much beef there and could possibly break. Also they are $345 I think w/o shipping. Anyways, that's where my reasoning is for why I went with Troy. I had a battlerail on my 556 an they were outstanding!

Does anyone know the weight of the Troy MRF308?
I keep finding 4.5 oz on various websites. That doesnt sound correct.
