ashooter,

I shouldn't post over there lest I PR add 15% to my training fees.

I'm that if Mark doesn't punt, his mount will be good to go. Sounds like this would be for a side rail, which would help to keep the mass over the receiver and not out forward. If he can do it and get the Aimpoint low enough to use the sights, then it would likely be very good-to-go.

Unfortunately, it seem that many Kalashnikov enthusiasts do not want to defile their weapons with ergonomic improvements.

I can't chime in there (locked) but I do want a LaRue mount for my Aimpoint C3, like this height or maybe even a few 100ths shorter. Since the factory mount sucks.

Hey, I haven't posted much over there in the past 2 years... I try to avoid it as much as possible, but if I can add a little "purdy please" that might do some good at getting Mark to go forward with an AK mount, I'd even post at glocktalk!

As far as adding "tactical" accessories to an AK, I think it's pretty easy to make an AK very unwieldy, since they're pretty unwieldy to start with. Depends on what you're using the AK for, I guess. If it's your primary long gun, I'd say add crap to it 'til it does whatever you need it to do - light, VFG, optic, whatever.

For me, I bought one so that I could learn to effectively use the most common rifle on earth, and so I could burn more powder cheaply. I can barely bring myself to think about putting an Aimpoint on an AK, since that sort of defeats the purpose of learning to use an AK... but I have two of them now, so I can leave one pretty much "stock" and play with the other one.

To each his own... at least it's not like adding a VFG, laser, light, optic etc to a Garand. Now THAT would be silly.

(now watch - somebody will post a pic of a SOPMOD Garand).

Decent AK optics would be nice

Question, how many of the bad guys would go for it?

I have the Ulitmak, and like one of the posters on ARF, I dont like that removing it blows the zero and it gets HOT! I rather enjoying cleaning my rifle and ensuring performance, so it does not do it for me. In fact, it seems nothing but what you can do with the side rail mount, and that really does not do much.
