Any AR-15 Barrel in a LMT MRP
Anybody know anything about this outfit:
http://www.dbmg-llc.com/
Any issues or drawback that anyone can see from taking a regular AR15 barrel and having it converted? Could the converted barrel be brought back to regular AR15 specs?

i would maybe see head space issues. that is about it... i think that they take the regular barrel turn and machine out slot of the screw and the maybe turn it down a little

Went by the shop and checked it out a while back and have been following the progress. Matter of fact I just dropped off my MWS with them.
No issues with headspace, the barrel will install the same as the OEM LMT barrel.
In a nutshell what they do is modify your AR barrel to be compatable with the LMT. One of the two partners is an established gunsmith who has been building .25 MOA rifles for a decade. Point being they know how to build rifles the right way and are not mearly guys with some CNC experiance and zero gunsmithing knowledge.

Well considering the world just learned about it from a member at tos and he is the first one to my knowledge to have had it performed I guess this would be a thread post dated?

What actually do they do to the barrel?

As for what is done to the barrel itself nothing is modified as far as I know on the MRP 5.56 that would prevent it from being turned back into a barrel that would work on another AR, however it would need to be done by a gunsmith not end user.
As for the 7.62...thats in the works and my rifle is the canarry. With the MWS everything is much bigger and bigger than other 308 AR's. They want to ensure any potential issues are identified prior to offering the service for the MWS in regards to compatability with other barrels.
At the same time they are going to do a complete barrel from a blank in a caliber other than 308 for those who may be into that sort of thing (me )

I'm wondering how difficult an SR15 extensioned barrel and bolt would do...

My educated guess: Press and/or glue a ring on the barrel to extend the major diameter of the barrel extension, mill the slot for the cross bolt, remove index pin.
The back half of the MRP barrel extensions is the same as a standard AR.

See any more MRP or MWS barrels in your future?
