Starting NFA Paperwork Predeployment

I'm thinking about starting the NFA process on an SBR before I left for Iraq. My question is whether or not it's wise to do so in case something went wrong. I wanted to start it so the waiting game could be played while I had nothing better to do (ie Deployed).

Do I need to have it engraved before I send of the paperwork? If not that would cut down on some of the paperwork/time restriction that I have.

What do you guys think.

Nothing wrong with the idea of sending off the paperwork while you're away. Just do your research to avoid any mistakes. There are alot of threads here covering NFA Forms.

Try looking at this thread.....http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=9830

Also check out the other stickies in the NFA section.
