Steyr AUG/A3 SA USA optics?

If my search FU is weak, please point me in the right direction

I have a new USA AUG in bound and need some sights. I'm looking for something for short ranges and self defense. Long shots would be 50 yards but, primary use needs to support night time low light shots at 50 feet from a defensive position where I may or may not have control over other light sources.

Intially I was focused on an AIMPOINT M3 but, I'm thinking about things like the AIMPOINT T-1 and RMR and similar sights. What do you recommend as good options for the optic AND mount. I'd like to stay in the $500 range but, have some flexibility if I sell something to raise some more $$. At this point in time, I'm thinking a 1x4 variable optic isn't a good option but, I have looked at the Bushnell Elite 4200 1.25-4 x 24 as an option with its 1MOA dot and cross hairs. THANKS!

I like your idea of the T1 for that gun. Save up and buy that....

Any other comments or recommendations? Also, what mount would most recommend (anything besides Larue)?
