Broken Extractor?

Hey guys. I think I have a broken extractor on my hands however something is confusing me. When the pistol is fired it does not extract the round however if the slide is manaully racked it will extract the round. If the extractor was broken would it still eject the round when the slide was manually racked?

Sounds like you have a broken ejector.

When the pistol is fired the slide is reciprocating so fast that the brass is not being pushed out by the next round in the magazine.

When you slowly, manually retract the slide there is time for the magazine to push a second round up to push the fired case out of the way.

Either that or you've got some extractor tension issues...

What type of gun is this by the way? That would help diagnose the issue.

I agree with Magz. Sounds more like an ejector issue but make and model will help with diagnoses. Also some pics of the ejector and extractor wouldn't hurt.

Its a smith and wesson sigma chamber in 9mm. I unfortunately don't have pictures of it because it is my fathers and this was how he described the issue. So if it was the extractor it would not extract the round when you manually racked the slide?
