16 inch Marlin 45-70 For SOLD

We are always on the lookout for god used guns to bring back to life and the lever guns are some of my favorites.

I found this gun and just had to make it nice it makes me smile like a school boy.

It is a strait stock gun from about 1970 so it does not have the cross bolt safety and never did just like in 1895.

The gun came to us with some honest ware on it so I thought I would give it some love and time this is what we did.

1. Install new XS sights Front and rear.
2. Install and fit lever rail to the gun.
3. Strip, clean, cut to length, and stain the stocks.
4. Go thru the gun and do the internal work to make the gun slick.
5. Fit but pad
6. Clean in and out

The gun is not perfect it has some pitting in the Silver nitride finish.
It however doses have a lot of life left in it.
I hope that the pics are good enough for you to see the finish.

This is the worst of the pitting

The gun is nice and ready to go to the field or the road.
Price on this gun is SOLD plus shipping.

Beautiful Work

Very nice work, as always Mr. Smith. I would be proud to own one of those in the near future.

I just got my 336 in 30-30 from Mr. Smith. Its a honey! Something about a short barelled rifle that tightens me up.

I'll be doing up a 444 Marlin soon.

I would elaborate upon that if I could, but I think you pretty much nailed it, Rob.

Joe knows his way around the inside of a lever gun, and these classic carbines really answer the mail when you need capability without compromise in an environment that isn't black gun friendly. The crazy thing is that with the addition of a rail, they'll take an RDS and a light just as readily as any full-on AR.

Very cool. Not so long ago, my son and I both left Mr. Smith's shop with one (each).
