Knights SR15 Magpul Dynamics

The search function only returns a server error message on my crackberry so I'm starting a thread. If this topic has already been covered please merge it with the original thread....

How many people that are ACTUALLY buying them plan on shooting them or running them in a class? I'm in the process of waiting for mine to hopefully be released next month and wonder if I should shoot it. I have plenty of ARs and one is a SR15 IWS and another is a SR25 EMC. I shoot both and enjoy them, but if Knights sticks to the 100 units will this weapon system be better off not seeing training courses etc? If you think the weapon isn't worth them money etc please don't bother posting a response. I have had people tell me that shooting some of my other weapons, mainly H&K pre 89 systems, was stupid and that they should be sold to "serious collectors."

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Well I guess it really comes down to what YOU want to do with it? I personally don't think it's a collectors item as much as say the Nighthawk SR-15 with the dimples. That is something that really stands out as a collectors item especially if you get it as a set with the 1911. I think that would be a better choice if you want something unique. The magpul dynamics is nice rig to shoot as it comes with a triple tap and isn't really meant to be a safe queen IMHO. If you check out the thread below, you can get a good deal on the Nighthawk set or just the rifle. Thats what I would get if I wanted a safe queen/collectors item. Magpul Dynamics if you want another rifle to shoot.

I see what you are saying, but the MD gun comes dimpled, is a 1 of 100 and has a one of a kind rail.

Its a very nice rifle and i would personally shoot it.

Now if ur purchasing the whole set including the KnightHawk 1911 then id possibly rethink shooting it just because down the road ull be able to sell the set to a collector for a very nice price.

But like i said above, if ur just picking up the rifle then id most likely shoot it.

Oh and i LOVE the dimpled barrel

I have one on order, although I haven't decided if I'll shoot it or not. Do you know when they're supposed to start shipping?

The SR15 MD begs to be shot. However, I might be tempted to treat it softly, given the collectors appeal, especially if you have another E3 to run in classes, etc.

I have a hard time spending that much money on something just to look at or resell. If I were to buy one I would shoot the piss out of it. It would be my go-to gun and once I banged it up enough that it didn't look new, I'd krylon it.

In other words - if I spent that much money on a gun, I would intend for it to be mine forever.

I'm probably in the minority, but guns are not pieces of art, they are mechanical tools that have a purpose and I couldn't buy one that was built that well and not fulfill it's purpose.

I would shoot the hell out of it. I have numerous guns in that price range and much higher, and shoot all of them. I'll be shooting the MP5 until it falls apart.

I like the look of the gun and am having an SR15 cut to 14.5" and maybe dimpled, I don't know. I'd buy one if I came across one, but it wouldn't be for collector value and I'd shoot it like all my other guns.

I hope you enjoy the gun and hope you post some pics when you get it.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I figure I'm going to shoot it. I only have one pistol that I've never shot, a H&K P7K3. I got it when H&K was getting rid of some of their pieces from their company collection in virginia. I didn't buy it to be an investment. I bought it because I liked it and it rounded out my P7 collection. I don't shoot it due to the fact that I'm not big into shooting either of my 380 pistols. The Knights will get shot, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, it will not be shot as nearly as much as my duty 10.5" system. Two reasons for this, I can't see beating up my toys when I can beat up free ones and I notice that I love my issued system until I shoot it after shooting my SR15. If I shoot it after my E3 I find it to be more brutish in all aspects. That doesn't mean that my issued cqb system is of poor quality, it just isn't refined like the E3 and I tend to resent that lack of refinement when I directly compare the two. So for training and recreational shooting I tend to shoot the weapon the gov gives me in order to stay proficient with the system I depend on day in and day out. If only I could talk someone into buying us sr-16 cqb weapons. I'd gladly add the inch of barrel to get to field one.

My understanding is that they were coming this month, but it is a special run and KAC does things their own way on their schedule so the time frame given to me may be optimistic. Either way I would like to have received it yesterday, but will be happy to receive it when they decide it is ready for public consumption.

They should be out any day now per O30's response on the kiddie site....he basically said first batch is being test fired and inspected as we speak and then they are out the door.

FYI....Its a crime in all 50 States to take possession of an AR and never shoot it

In all seriousness though I would never buy a SE gun to only have it sit in a safe.....I have grand visions for what I will be doing with my future Magpul A and C series lowers and believe it or not, even my future B series lower will be run hard and put up wet

It is not about whether the Knight/Magpul carbine should be shot, it is about how you make your money. If you make your money buying and selling collector firearms than don't shoot it and protect your return on investment.

If, on the other hand, you make your money another way, shoot the shit out of it.

I make my money by making money move around, so firearms are for enjoyment for me now. Therefore I would definitely shoot it.

I'm torn on this myself - I know I'll want to shoot the snot out of it, but for somebody in my tax bracket I need to commit before abusing something worth 3 months of saving.

Once I'm sure I won't sell it, or not feel the need to keep in in matching parts: I realize that it would be possible for KAC to replace the majority of wear components (replace the barrel and BCG; at worst pull the handguard and beg for a replacement upper receiver in the rare case that it sees six digit round counts).

As far as when the come out - I haven't heard anything since Kev mentioned that they had an order for more M110s come in, so when it comes it comes. In my small bubble, the longer it takes the more likely these rifles might come with some MagPul T&E/Proto goodies (MS3, RSA), or so I hope.

I would expect to be seeing them very soon. Hopefully at least some of the guys and gals who buy them will use them as blasters, but if not, its theirs to do with as they please.

If it were an option, I would own one to kick around.

I know some of the KAC guys have been hanging around lately. Any chance we can get some photos of the unreleased product?

Trey mentioned in another thread that these will drop soon.

I'm wondering what MSRP these might finalize at.
