Troy MRF 13.8 rail bottom rail movement

I put a Troy MRF 13.8" rail on my BCM 16" BFH middy upper. The rail fits very well on the reciever, clamps up tight, and aligns very well. However, I am having trouble with the bottom rail. This part slides forward on a track and can be removed. On the end of the rail is where my problem is. If I grip the rail at the end, like I would do if I were shooting, and grip it tightly, the bottom rail piece will actually move up towards the barrel independantly of the top part of the real system. When it does this, it makes a very audible and annoying snap noise as it hit whatever keeps it from moving further up. Another way to explain it is this: If one were to put a bipod on this rail as far towards the muzzle as possible, every time the rifle was set on the ground you would hear a snap and the bottom rail will have moved jusa tiny amount upward. This must be due to a little play in the shelf that the bottom rail slides on. Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Troy MRF? Its not a huge deal, but its jus one of those things that will get to you if you have a couple grand in your rifle.

Thanks,
Mark

How far does it slide forward? When you installed it, did you make sure the bottom detent that holds it in place properly engaged the slot on the bottom rail?
If installation was done correctly, please contact Troy. Im sure theyd be more than happy to help you out.
Posting a potential problem on the boards prior to contacting the manufacturer is a bit unfair on their part as it generates unnecessary negative buzz. Give them a chance to correct the problem first, if in fact it is a factory glitch.

That was not my intent at all. This is a great rail, and despite what some may say, the MRF locks up very tightly to the factory barrel nut. I could not be happier with it. After looking at it some more, I think that I am just over thinking it. I was just hoping to hear that this is normal. I apologize, and please delete this thread, mods.

Thanks
Mark

this may be too obvious but on my 12" MRF there is a small hex screw that locks the bottom rail in place. make sure that is engage properly maybe it was screwed in without the bottom rail properly positioned... just a thought not trying to insult any intelligence....ive had more than my share of brain farts

Give the vendor a ping, give them a chance to answer your questions. Let us know what they have to say.

I tried to get ahold of Troy yesterday evening before I posted, but they put me on hold for tech support and it went to voicemail. I called today and I spoke to a very helpful tech support rep. He said that it should be a very solid fit and that it should not move. I told him that it did not inhibit the functioning of the rail at all, but he insisted that I send it back to them for evaluation and repair/replacement. Very helpful customer support from Troy. I am glad I gave them my business.
