6.8 SPC magazines

I have an itch for a 6.8 Noveske Diplomat upper. Don't ask why it's a want thing. Trouble I am having is I have a 20 magazine per rifle deal. I have 200 5.56 mags. Yes the ban years came about the time I could actually purchase a black rifle so when the ban expired I started hoarding mags. In any case are the steel 6.8 mags very durable ie Barrett, PRI magazines? Like AK steel magazine durable? Much more so than aluminum AR mags? Figuring they cost over 3x as much as a quality 5.56 mag I'd like to think they are. C-Products are cheap and could be used for training i was thinking. Any thoughts?

I feel that the C-Products mags are a step up from the 'standard' aluminum USGI mag except in the finish. However when they get ratty enough I intend to refinish mine per the suggestions listed on the AR 15.com site.

I have both C products and PRI

both work fine but I like the PRI 10rds for hunting because I can run a longer COAL (2.30) which gets me tighter groups with the Barnes 95g TTSX

I frankly feel the PRI is a little "stouter" mag

I have the Barrett 30's and they are the best as far as always reliable in my Noveske and LMT. They are solid mags but heavy. They can be hard to seat when loaded to capacity.

I just bought 6 of the PRI 20's with the military floor plates that PRI is closing out and they have worked well so far. These are the old style mags with the non-waffled uppers. They, at least for me, work much better than the waffled 25's that I tried a year ago.

my buddy runs 10 round C products and I run 10 round PRI.
both have been flawless for several hundred rounds each.

my 6.8 is for hunting, I wont ever have a reason for a larger Mag.

I've not had any problems with C-Prod mags in 6.8 or 5.56. Give them a good recommendation whether for the range, hunt or in the jeep for SD while out and about in southern AZ.

From what I have seen at the 68 forum, C-products are probably your best best for factory ammo while the Barrett's are probably your best bet for hand loads. You can find more info there.

My experience is only with the 5 round C-products magazines. So far they have worked out well during hunting season.
