Good options for distance shooting in 600 dollar range

Im looking for a new scope for my .308 in the 600 dollar range. Will be used to shoot targets out to 500 yards and possibly a bit further if given the opportunity.

I can spend more up to 800 or so if you guys can talk me into something in that range.

Ones I have been looking at are:

Leupolds
Weaver Tactical
Falcon Menace
Vortex
Burris Tactical
SWFA.

I have a line at a local shop on a used but never mounted Leupold VXIII Tactical 3.5-10x for 400 bucks. But I dont think it will still be around when I have the money to buy it. So I am looking at my options.

I had this scope before and other than the lack of illumination I thought it was great. Its priced at 600 unless you get the target turrets then its a bit more. The glass if very clear and the adjustments track well and are repeatable. (passes the square test)

Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16 or 4.5-30 if you prefer.

I prefer this scope to Leupolds offerings in the same price range.

Check out some of the offerings from IOR/Valdada.

Genuinely some excellent glass and very rugged.

I don't know if you need variable magnification but you can get more scope for the money if you don't.

I've had this scope for years and while it's gotten a bit more expensive it's definitely good for what you intend.

my first bolt gun had a SS10x and it was a nice scope. very dependable.

my next stick came with a BSA 4-16x for free when i bought it. i put it on to try and it was junk, who would have guessed?

i am also really looking at the Bushnell Elite 6500 line. if you look around, you can get them at a decent price. 650-750 depending on the 2.5-16x or 4.5-30x was the best i could find.
